There are a lot of bloggers (mostly beginners) who have a hard time understanding what SEO actually is and how they can apply some basic strategies to make their blogs more Google friendly.
It is not only the outside that counts but also the inside and what happens behind the scenes. You see, I have a personal customized Blog and I have everything designed like I want it to be. But I have also taken care of the SEO side of my blog.
To break it down for you. I made a list of plugins that I use for my own blog. I recommend you to use them as they can get your blog ranked pretty fast by doing it the correct way. All of these plugins are pretty self explanatory. I have also provided the links to the plugins. So you only have to click on the names of the plugins to be directed to the download page.
My 8 Most Favorite FREE SEO Plugins & Still Growing!
All in One SEO Pack ~ All In One Seo Pack is one of the most important plugin that every blogger should install on their blogs. This plugin allows you to edit and control the Title, Meta description, and meta tags for each article you write. As I said above its most important plugin for wordpress users because by default wordpress use your blog tagline as your meta description and keyword.
Google XML Sitemaps ~ This plugin will generate a special XML sitemap which will help search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and Ask.com to better index your blog. With such a sitemap, it’s much easier for the crawlers to see the complete structure of your site and retrieve it more efficiently. The plugin supports all kinds of WordPress generated pages as well as custom URLs. Additionally it notifies all major search engines every time you create a post about the new content.
MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer ~ Whenever a blog pings, many background processes happen which get your blog quickly indexed by search engines as well as bringing traffic from many other sources. “MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer plugin” corrects WordPress’s pinging system and solves all the problems listed above for even the latest version of WordPress.
SEO Blogroll ~ This plugin / widget substitutes the default “Links” widget. If you are a SEO specialist, you already know how much important is the rel=”nofollow” attribute in outgoing links. If you are not: links passes part of the PageRank the page has gained to their destinations. Do not let the blogroll section wasting it by donating your pagerank to external sites.
SEO Friendly Images ~ SEO Friendly Images is a WordPress optimization plugin which automatically updates all images with proper ALT and TITLE attributes. If your images do not have ALT and TITLE already set, SEO Friendly Images will add them according the options you set. Additionally this makes the post W3C/xHTML valid as well.
SEO Slugs ~ SEO Slugs plugin strips common words like “what”, “you” or “can” out of your post slug to make it more search engine friendly.
SEO Smart Links ~ SEO Smart Links provides automatic SEO benefits for your site in addition to custom keyword lists, nofollow and much more. SEO Smart Links can automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your blog. Further SEO Smart links allows you to set up your own keywords and set of matching URLs. Finally SEO Smart links allows you to set nofollow attribute and open links in new window.
SEO Super Comments ~ For each user comment we will create a new dynamic page on the blog, holding the actual comment information. This page will not actually exist in WordPress database, but we will create it dynamically using a WordPress plugin. What we instantly get in this way is big jump in site’s index visible to search engines. This is possible because blog comments are crawl-able, index-able and most importantly rank-able content. Also meaning you will start to get search engine traffic for the context of the comment.
